Zombie
rum
Sources: Grog Log | Don the Beachcomber
An anonymous 1934 attempt to reproduce Don the Beachcomber's "often imitated, never duplicated" recipe. The story goes that Don whipped this up on the spot to revive a hung-over businessman. But the copy from a 1941 Beachcomber menu offers a different origin myth: "The Zombie didn't just happen. It is the result of a long and expensive process of evolution... In experiments leading up to the Zombie, three and a half cases of assorted rums were used and found their way down the drain so that you may now enjoy this potent 'mender of broken dreams'."
